Today we honor Hydeia Broadbent, a prominent HIV activist who passed away at the age of 39. Born with HIV, her activism started at just 6 years old when she started speaking publicly about living with HIV. She traveled nationally and internationally to educate and inspire others at AIDS benefit concerts, college, seminars and through her appearances in documentaries and talk shows. She received a Black Achievement Award from Jet Magazine after establishing the Hydeia Broadbent Foundation and was a spoke person for many prominent organizations.
Her tireless work to raise awareness and fight stigma and discrimination has made a lasting impact. Rest in Power Hydeia.
