May 17, 2025 – “No One Left Behind: Equality, Freedom, and Justice for All”
On this International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), the Community Health Initiative for Youth in Nigeria (CHIYN) stands in unwavering solidarity with LGBTIQ+ persons across Nigeria and around the world.
This year’s theme, “No One Left Behind”, is a powerful reminder of our shared responsibility to dismantle all forms of discrimination and systemic violence that continue to marginalize queer people especially youth in our communities.
As an organization deeply rooted in the fight for health equity and human rights, CHIYN recognizes that stigma, criminalization, and exclusion severely hinder access to healthcare, education, and safety for LGBTIQ+ individuals. We reaffirm that every young person, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, deserves to live free from fear, with dignity, and with full access to justice and opportunity.
We honor the courage of those who resist injustice daily and remember those whose lives have been lost to hate, violence, and state-sanctioned oppression. In their memory, we rededicate ourselves to creating safe, inclusive spaces where queer youth can thrive.
We call on government institutions, civil society actors, and community leaders to act decisively to protect the rights and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ people. Silence is not neutrality — it is complicity.
Together, let us raise our voices, lift our communities, and build a future where no one is left behind.
In solidarity,
Community Health Initiative for Youth in Nigeria (CHIYN)
