worldAIDS DAY began in 1988 and takes place on December 1st each year. It is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in remembering those lost to the virus. It is also a day for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS. Today, focusing on reducing the stigma of HIV, inspiring hope and offering support in overcoming shame, people around the globe are living their lives in meaningful and empowered ways. WorldAIDS day is important because it reminds us that HIV has not gone away -there is still work to be done. Yet, there is also much to celebrate as each day we get closer to realizing the goal of someday ending the epidemic.
